Abstract
Millets, a group of small-seeded grasses, have been an essential food source across the globe for millennia, but their potential therapeutic applications have gained increasing attention in recent years. This paper explores the nutritional composition of millets, focusing on their protein, fiber, vitamins, minerals, and bioactive compounds. We analyze their therapeutic roles in the prevention and management of lifestyle-related diseases such as diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, obesity, and gastrointestinal disorders. Despite their numerous health benefits, millets remain underutilized in contemporary diets, primarily due to cultural biases, accessibility issues, and lack of awareness. This review aims to highlight the therapeutic potential of millets, address existing barriers, and propose future research directions.
